Maharashtra's Corash-19 situation is cause for concern, will hold talks with Prime Minister: Dr. Harsh Vardhan
NEW DELHI: Union Health Minister Dr. Dr said Wednesday that he will hold a meeting with the Prime Minister to discuss the worsening situation for Covid-19 in the state, as 34 of its 36 districts are affected by the infection.
The situation in Maharashtra is certainly worrying at the moment, as 34 out of 36 districts are affected by Covid-19. I will also hold a meeting with the prime minister to discuss an additional course of action to control the spread of the virus in the state, the minister said at a press conference here.
Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Nagpur, Solapur, among the 34 districts are cause for concern for us, he added.
The Union health minister further said that the objective of the Center was to ensure that no new cases emerged from the Maharashtra districts and secured all aid to the state in the coming days.
There are 1,026 containment zones in Maharashtra at this time, to my knowledge. The Center's team and doctors are stationed there and we will give further aid to Maharashtra as needed, the minister said.
According to the Union's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Maharashtra had 15,525 cases of Covid-19 as of Wednesday morning, including 617 deaths. However, 2,819 patients have been cured and discharged after receiving treatment for the disease.
