2 militants killed in a meeting in Pulwama de J another operation almost finished

SRINAGAR: Two unidentified people were killed in one with security forces and on Wednesday, while another operation in which a militant commander was trapped was entering its final stages, authorities said.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Sharshali village of Pulwama after receiving information about the presence of militants there, officials said.

They said the search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire on the positions of the security forces.

In retaliation shots, two militants were killed, officials said, adding that the operation was ongoing when the latest reports were received.

Another operation at Beighpora in Pulwama was entering its final stages, an official said.

A senior militant commander and two of his close aides are believed to be trapped in the hideout, he said.

Police last night launched an operation on a specific entrance in Beighpora. Senior officials have been monitoring him since last night, a police spokesman said previously.

He said that the militants were contacted and that a senior terrorist commander is trapped.

The exchange of fire is underway. More details will follow in due course, he added.
