Covid-19 death count hits 68 in West Bengal: Home Secretary

KOLKATA: It has registered 68 and there are 1,344 active cases in the state, the interior secretary said on Tuesday.

With 85 new positive cases in the last 24 hours, the total number of confirmed cases in the state reached 1,344.

Bandyopadhyay said the number of deaths caused by the virus in Bengal had risen to 68, with seven deaths recorded in the past 24 hours.

With 2,455 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, West Bengal has analyzed 27,571 samples so far, Bandyopadhyay said. Currently, 4,712 people are being held while 5,561 people are under home surveillance in the state, Bandyopadhyay added.

Meanwhile, after India recorded the largest increase in new Covid-19 cases, as well as the number of deaths, the Center has blamed the delay in reporting cases by a few states.
