Rugby: Galthie and France coaches hired part-time
PARIS: France national coach Fabien Galthie and its staff will work part-time until at least the end of May with a 20 percent pay cut in light of the coronavirus pandemic, the French rugby union federation said Monday.
The deal means that Galthie and all the backroom staff from the men's and women's teams, as well as the sevens configuration, will continue to work one day, or two half days, a week.
French social security will pay them 80 percent of their usual salary for a temporary period as France fights against COVID-19 an outbreak that has led to a death toll of nearly 25,000 in the country.
France will play Argentina twice in July, although because flights to Buenos Aires were suspended until September, the team is unlikely to play before the fall internationals.
