Indian Women's Hockey Team raises Rs 20 lakh to help people affected by COVID-19

BENGALURU: The Indian Women's Hockey Team has raised funds worth Rs 20 lakh to assist in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

The Indian team raised the money through an 18-day fitness challenge, which ended on May 3 and resulted in an increase of Rs 20, 01,130. The funds have been donated to a Delhi-based NGO. Uday Foundation .

The funds will be used to meet the basic needs of patients in various places, migrant workers and slum dwellers.

The response we received was truly overwhelming. People, especially Indians hockey Lovers from around the world participated in the challenge and contributed to the cause.

On behalf of the Indian women's team, I would like to thank everyone who participated in this initiative to help the poor, patron of India Rani Rampal said.

The challenge involved team members devising different fitness tasks ranging from burpees, lunges, squats to spider-man push-ups, pogo jumps, and more.

Every day, a player made a new challenge and tagged 10 people on their social media to take up the challenge and donate Rs 100 to the fundraiser.
