'The Mountain' Hafthor Bjornsson lifts 501kg of deadlift to set world record
Icelandic actor and strongman Hafthor Bjornsson to establish a world record For him dead weight on Saturday when he lifted 1,104 pounds (501 kg) at Thor's Power Gym in Iceland.
Bjornsson, best known for his portrayal of Being Gregor The Mountain Clegane in the popular HBO series Game of Thrones broke the record previously held by Britain's Eddie Hall, who in 2016 became the first man to lift 500kg.
The event was broadcast live and Bjornsson, 31, lifted the bar that bent and stretched under the dumbbells, holding it for two seconds before releasing it and roaring with joy.
Bjornsson, who is six feet nine inches tall, won the World's Strongest Man competition in 2018.
