Having successfully organized the first two championships, I am now sure to increase the number of participants in the third tournament. But for now it will not exceed 100, he said. Shimon Sharif , the brain behind the initiative.

Sharif, a former marksman from India, has earned the applause of marksmen for his initiative at a time when the world is closed due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The national blockade in India was extended to May 17 and Sharif said the plan is to hold the championship every 15 days until the situation returns to normal.

Sharif has managed to incorporate all possible elements from real life to make the tournament as interesting and competitive as possible.

All shooters require an electronic set of targets, in addition to a mobile phone with an Internet connection, to compete in the championship.

While the inaugural edition featured only the qualifications, Sharif did include a 24-shot final for the 10m Compressed Air Rifle and 10m Air Pistol events in the second championship.

Lucy Evans, who ranked third in the last competition, tweeted: Once again grateful for the opportunity to compete in a virtual online championship (and a final this time!). Thanks to all @indianshooting for organizing.

After the COVID-19 pandemic led to either cancellation or postponement of all shooting events, including the ISSF World Cups, the online championship has generated a good amount of interest.
