Lokpal member Ajay Kumar Tripathi dies of coronavirus

NEW DELHI: Member, who had tested positive for him, died Saturday after suffering cardiac arrest at the Trauma Center, official sources said.

Tripathi, 62, had tested positive for the virus in the first week of April and was admitted to the AIIMS Intensive Care Unit in Delhi.

He was later transferred to the trauma center, which provides treatment primarily for victims of traffic accidents, but recently became a dedicated Covid-19 hospital. Tripathi was the first patient to be transferred to the facility.

I was very sick. He was in the ICU and ventilated for the past three days, one of the sources said.

The former chief justice of the Chhattisgarh Supreme Court was one of four judicial members of the anti-corruption ombudsman, Lokpal.
