First spl train to bring Nashik migrant workers back on Sunday

LUCKNOW: The first special train to bring out-of-state migrant workers will arrive here on Sunday and talks are ongoing with officials from many states to guarantee their return, an official said.

The first special train with 845 migrant workers left Nashik on Friday and will arrive in the state capital through Kanpur on Sunday, said additional (local) chief secretary Awanish.

According to the prime minister's directives, talks are ongoing with officials from Maharashtra and Gujarat to operate more special trains on Sunday, he said.

However, Awasthi reiterated that the condition for bringing migrant workers back is that the respective states provide lists with details of the stranded workers along with a certificate that the workers boarding the trains have been properly checked and are healthy. .

The prime minister, who asked to stop all kinds of illegal inter-district and interstate movements, ordered to obtain details of names, addresses, mobile phone numbers and job skills of workers returning to the state.

Awasthi said nearly three-quarters of positive cases have been reported from the 433 hotspots identified in the state.
