Karnataka: IAS officer receives cause notice to show tweet about Tablighi Jamaat members
BENGALURU (KARNATAKA): The Karnataka government has issued a just cause notice to the IAS officer regarding its social media posting of member plasma donation for treatment of patients with COVID-19.
Mohsin serves as secretary for Karnataka Backward Classes.
In his tweet on April 27, Mohammad Mohsin wrote: More than 300 Tablighi heroes are donating their plasma to serve the country in New Delhi alone. What about Godi Media? They will not show you the works of humanity made by these heroes.
The government has taken into account the adverse coverage this tweet has in the media, given the serious nature of COVID-19 and the sensitivities involved, the program's cause notice said.
The state government has sought a written explanation from the officer within five days for violating the Rules (of Conduct), 1968.
He has also warned of actions against the officer under India's All Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, if he does not file his response before the deadline.
