Tarun Bajaj assumes the position of secretary of economic affairs
NEW DELHI: an old hand in the finance Minister , on Friday assumed the position of secretary of economic affairs. Returns to North Block at a time when economy is facing due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Before assuming this position, he was an additional secretary in the Prime Minister's Office.
Bajaj, a 1988 IAS officer, replaces him, who retired Thursday.
"Shri Tarun Bajaj takes over as the new secretary, Department (DEA), here today after superannuation of Shri Atanu Chakraborty on 30.04.2020," the finance Minister said in a tweet.

Before joining the Prime Minister's Office in 2015, Bajaj was a secretary in the department of economic affairs and was in charge of multilateral funding agencies.
He worked as a joint secretary and director in the department.
As a joint secretary of the financial services department for four years, he was in charge of the insurance division.
