Punishable Covid-19 patient funeral lock: TN government
CHENNAI: On Sunday you warned that avoiding the burial/cremation of bodies of deceased persons is a crime punishable by a prison sentence of one to three years.
In a statement issued in Chennai, the government said it passed an ordinance by which those who block the decent burial/cremation of the bodies of people who died due to reported illnesses will be punished.
Such a punishable offense would attract a fine, a prison sentence of a minimum of one year and a maximum of three years.
The ordinance was passed after people began blocking the burial/cremation for fear of the spread of the coronavirus in their locality.
