Covid-19: Four inmates test positive at Indore Central Prison

INDORE: Four inmates at the central jail tested positive for the novel, bringing the total number of Covid-19 prisoners in the city to six, a senior official said Monday. They were admitted to MY Hospital on April 17, said central prison superintendent Rakesh Kumar Bhangre.


They are in the age group of 28 to 34 years. The number of prisoners infected with coronavirus here is now six. All of the inmates who came into contact are being transferred to a temporary prison for examination by medical personnel, he said.

Bhangre said the prison has 2,220 inmates against an authorized capacity of 1,230.

The prison was divided into seven zones and the municipal corporation disinfected them. The inmates were given masks, he added.
