Blockade: transport services in Bangalore will remain suspended
BENGALURU: Minutes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended national coverage to May 3, the agencies decided on Wednesday to extend their suspension of services.
Limited (BMRCL) stated that metro services will remain until May 3. “To keep the Metro system in standby mode hot and on, a test train every morning and afternoon is running on both lines. A minimum number of test personnel will travel on these test trains, ”BMRCL Public Relations Director BL Yashavanth Chavan said Tuesday. He added that parking lots and commercial premises will also remain closed.
(KSRTC) and (BMTC) have also suspended services and only skeletal services continue to operate to transport essential personnel.
Indian Railways stated that passenger train services will be canceled until May 3. All ticket counters will remain closed. Advance online ticket reservations will come to a complete stop. We will provide a full refund to all canceled tickets, ”said a SWR official. However, freight and parcel trains will continue to operate.
Previously, there was a high demand for travel tickets on April 15, anticipating that the blockade could be lifted. Meanwhile, private bus operators and online booking sites have begun the process to reimburse those who had booked travel tickets on April 15 and later. However, many private airlines are not granting refunds for flights canceled during closing and instead offer coupons for future travel.
