The show ran for eight long years from 2008-2016. The USP of Balika Vadhu was that it used to pose a question or impart a social message at the end of each episode.

Balika Vadhu showcased the life of a child bride from childhood to womanhood. While the first season focused on Anandi and Jagdish, who were married in childhood, the second season reflected on the lives of Anandi's daughter Dr. Nandini. She was also a victim of child marriage.
