PMO attacks technology leaders to develop solutions to deal with the coronavirus crisis

NEW DELHI: A high-powered committee made up of government officials and technology leaders, created by the Prime Minister's Office, is working on solutions to tackle the coronavirus crisis, including the next version of the app, according to a.

The committee was formed under the chief scientific advisory professor.

The member includes IT Secretary Ajay Sawhney, Trai President RS Sharma, Telecommunications Secretary Anshu Prakash, Tata Group President N Chandrasekaran, Mahindra Group President Anand Mahindra, CEO of Tech Mahindra, CP Gurnani, Professor V Kamakoti and the founder of the Google map, Lalitesh Katragadda.

The committee meets regularly and is progressing aggressively and the PMO is actively involved. They meet 3-4 times a week to discuss next steps. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been emphasizing 'harnessing digital and technological innovation for a healthier planet'. and spearheading this initiative, the source told PTI.

The committee is said to have been the driving force in developing the Aarogya Setu mobile coronavirus patient tracker.

The committee's goal is to make this app cover all aspects. The 100% reach, the ability to track and restrict the movement of patients and those in quarantine using artificial intelligence and GPS technologies, reduce the burden on the healthcare system by providing supportive remote healthcare, the source said.

The committee is working on the next version of Aarogya Setu to help citizens identify closing points and also especially for the economically weakest section to use these services to find out and locate the daily needs distribution centers.

Basically, the goal is to be a complete one-stop shop for all the needs of citizens that arise due to covid-19. Tata Consultancy Services is working on the tests and some of the other aspects, while Tech Mahindra and the Mahindra group are working with the committee on the next version of this application and taking advantage of next generation technologies such as AI, machine learning, data science said the source.

Tech Mahindra is also working to expand the reach of Aarogya Setu on all types of phones.

The current version of the Aarogya Setu app is suitable for use only on smartphones.

Work is underway to add healthcare facilities, remote healthcare and medical staff support also in the app, the source said.

According to the source, the committee is also working to find solutions that can be implemented across the country quickly and cheaply.

The committee proposed Aarogya Setu on April 2. Now more than 1 crore people have downloaded it. The Mahindra Group has stated that the group will allow the construction of automatic versions of the bag valve mask respirator, especially to simplify design and increase capacity. Similarly, the committee is rapidly looking at other solutions, the source said.

According to the source, Niti Aayog and the Ministry of Electronics and Informatics have played a key role in the development of Aarogya Setu.
