Bihar blockade: farmers organize a protest against the police in Nalanda
NALANDA: Farmers on Monday staged a protest and blocked a road in Sharif in Nalanda, alleging harassment by the police.
We have blocked the road and are protesting against the police. Today we will not sell vegetables. Police beat farmers, one farmer said.
Meanwhile, Nalanda SP Nilesh Kumar said: It is difficult for the police to identify if any cyclist is a farmer or if someone wanders unnecessarily.
Farmers have been told to sell vegetables while maintaining social distance, he added.
On March 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day national blockade as a precautionary measure to control the spread of Covid-19.
