Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli made a solo Easter concert of a void Milan Cathedral broadcast live to millions of people worldwide in the coronavirus blockade.
The Music for Hope performance, which was streamed on YouTube from Milan's Duomo cathedral, has been viewed more than 22 million times so far. Among the many who joined to see the LIVE performance, were Hollywood stars Jennifer Anniston , Kim Kardashian and even the 'Wolverine' star Hugh jackman .
While Kim and Jennifer shared the singer's videos on their Instagram stories, Hugh posted a photo of the singer and extended a thank you note saying: From the bottom of our hearts, thank you @andreabocelliofficial A tremendous gift and exactly what we needed. amazinggrace #happyeaster.
Moved by the powerful performance, the stars took to their social media handles to share the singer’s video and spread hope and joy over the Easter weekend.
Accompanied by an organist, Bocelli sang four songs inside the magnificent Gothic building and ended with a performance of ‘ Amazing grace From the steps of the cathedral with a montage of images showing the empty streets of Paris, London and New York.
"On the day in which we celebrate the trust in a life that triumphs, I'm honoured and happy to answer 'Si' to the invitation of the City and the Duomo of Milan," the visually impaired star said in a message played before the short concert .
Thanks to the music, broadcast live, bringing millions of hands together around the world, we will embrace the beating heart of this wounded Earth, he said.
