Stranded but safe on campus, say foreign students in Gujarat

Shaloom Niyomuvunyi is a freshman at PDPU. Originally from Rwanda, Shaloom came to PDPU to study BA/BBA (Hons.). He's been staying at the university hostel. He shares: “I feel safe here. I miss my family very much, but I know that I am currently in the best place. The university takes care of our needs and keeps us all comfortable. ” Shaloom adds that because the trip is suspended, he will not be able to visit his country. Keeps in touch with friends and family through video calls. “The hostel manager visits all the rooms regularly and makes sure we are comfortable. Attendance each night ensures that we are all in the hostel. The university is also closed and security precautions are taken at the hostel. The university doctor also performs a regular check-up for all international students, ”adds Shaloom.
