Detection of more positive Corona cases is a good sign and is not a cause for concern. This was to be expected. We have also found that a doctor in Ahmedabad who works in the government's Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Program has tested positive for the virus. Another doctor at Sola Civil Hospital has also been found positive. But it is necessary to find out if they contracted the virus while on duty or through their social contacts, said Jayanti Ravi, the Gujarat health secretary.

Despite the secretary's claims, it is troubling that some new positive cases have also emerged in areas that are outside the hotspots. In Ahmedabad, apart from the critical points, positive cases were found in the Manekchowk, Juhapura, New Vadaj and Dudheshwar areas. Similarly, new cases have also been found outside the hot spots in Vadodara.

Of the total 259 active cases, the condition of 257 is stable, while the condition of 2 is critical and they are on the ventilator, Ravi added.

In the past 24 hours, we have taken 978 samples for the test, where 67 have been positive, 635 negative and 276 are pending, Ravi added.

The total number of people in quarantine in the state is 12,352, where 11,015 are in home quarantine, 1,170 in government facilities and 167 in private facilities, Ravi added.
