Harsh Vardhan chairs a meeting with state health ministers to review COVID-19 management

NEW DELHI: Union Health Minister Dr. Dr chaired a meeting with state health ministers via video conference here on Friday of Nirman Bhawan to review management actions.

The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, was also present at the meeting. Both ministers learned of the arrangements made by state hospitals to treat patients with COVID-19 and preparing for the challenges arising from the spread of the virus.

On Thursday Harsh Vardhan addressed the Global Online Conference on COVID-19 and said that India is fully equipped and doing its best. We have planned everything possible and are in constant contact with the World Health Organization (WHO).

He added that India is prepared for the worst, but does not believe the country will get there due to the COVID-19 threat.

With an increase of 547 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 12 hours, the total number of positive cases in India increased to 6,412 on Friday. Of the total cases, 5,709 are active patients and 503 of them have been cured/discharged, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. With 30 new deaths reported in the past 12 hours, the number rises to 199. According to the ministry, Maharashtra is the most affected state after registering more than 1,360 positive cases. Tamil Nadu is in second place with 834 cases. The total number of cases reported in Delhi so far is 720.
