Former cricketer Jackie du Preez dies
DUBAI: former Zimbabwean cricketer Jackie du Preez passed away Thursday in Harare from a long-standing heart condition, International Cricket Council ( ICC ) He said.
Roulette played for South Africa in the days leading up to Zimbabwe's independence. He played two tests for South Africa in 1967.
Du Preez did not represent South Africa thereafter, but enjoyed a long and successful first-class career. He collected 296 wickets in 120 first-class games.
He also had enough success with the bat to be tagged as an all-rounder, scoring 4,063 runs in first-class cricket at an average of 23.76, including a century and 19 fifty.
He later spent a period as a member of Zimbabwe Cricket Selection panel.
