Swiss repatriation flight to fly Europeans from India

NEW DELHI: Lufthansa Group The Swiss airline is operating a special repatriation flight to fly to Europeans in India. Swiss is operating an Airbus A330 on the Zurich-Mumbai-Delhi-Zurich route to bring Swiss and other European citizens home at a time when international flights to and from India are not operating due to the global blockage of air traffic.

George Ettiyil, Lufthansa Group ’s senior director (sales, south Asia), said: “ Lufthansa Group airlines are an integral part of the critical infrastructure of their home countries of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Belgium. As a responsible corporate citizen, we are tasked with the duty and privilege to bring people back to their homes in this time of unprecedented global crisis. We are thankful to be able to help the government officials in India and Switzerland with this special flight.”

Since March 14, Lufthansa Group airlines — Swiss, Austrian Airlines , Lufthansa and Eurowings: They have flown around 220 special flights back to the countries of origin of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium, involving more than 40,000 tourists. More than 70 additional flights are already being prepared.
