No need to worry about the availability of PPE: Ministry of Health
NEW DELHI: On Thursday, the Union's health ministry said there is no need to panic about the availability of Covid-19 (), but emphasized that they should be used rationally.
The joint secretary of the health ministry said in the daily briefing that 20 companies are manufacturing PPE in India and that PPE orders of Rs 1.7 million have already been shipped.
As of Wednesday, 540 cases of the infection and 17 deaths from it have been reported, he said.
The total number of Covid-19 cases in India is 5,734 and 166 people have died from the disease, he said.
According to an ICMR official, 1,30,000 samples for Covid-19 have been tested to date in the country.
