Hanuman Jayanti: History
Lord Hanuman was born to Anjana, the wife of Vanaraja Kesari (the Monkey King). Anjana is believed to have been cursed by Muni Vishwamitra for disturbing him. He cursed Anjana that she will give birth to a monkey. Anjana did her best to get rid of the curse and worshiped Lord Shiva. She urged him to be part of her son. Therefore, Lord Hanuman is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
Another part of the story tells us that King Dasharatha performed a Putrakameshti yagna ritual for the children to follow, and was a little scared. However, a kite snatched a fragment from him and the Pawan Dev handed it to Anjana, and Lord Hanuman was born. Because Lord Hanuma is also known as 'Pawan Putra'.
Hanuman, son of the wind god Pawan, has Herculean qualities in Scripture, including lifting an entire mountain with one hand.
