Government to deposit 1,000 rupees into PMJDY women's accounts in two installments
NEW DELHI: Urging people not to believe the rumors, the Finance Ministry said Thursday that 500 rupees have been deposited into every PMJDY account held by women by April and that 1,000 more will be delivered in the next two months in equal installments.
Meanwhile, the state-owned SBI, which has the most PMJDY accounts, asked beneficiaries not to believe the rumors that the government will take the money from them if it doesn't withdraw it amidst a large number of people flocking to the banks.
As a result of this, there is a rush at bank branches that leads to violation of social distancing guidelines to control the spread.
The Department of Financial Services (DFS) said in a tweet that the government deposited 500 rupees in the PMJDY accounts held by the women by April and that the beneficiaries could withdraw it at any time.
This amount (500 rupees) has reached your bank account and you can withdraw it at any time, he said, adding that the 500 rupees will also be deposited during May and June.
DFS, in the finance ministry, also asked beneficiaries not to believe the rumors and withdraw the amount from the ATM, customer service point, or banks at their convenience.
Of the total Rs 38.08 million under the (PMJDY), up to Rs 20.60 million was held by women. As on April 1, deposits in PMJDY accounts exceeded Rs 1.19 lakh crore.
(SBI) further stated: We would like to assure our clients that the funds in their account will not be blocked or returned to the government.
The country's largest lender also asked PMJDY account holders to withdraw money at their convenience at any time.
The Finance Minister announced this as part of the Rs 1.70-lakh crore relief package announced last month.
The minister had said that up to 20.5 million crore women, Jan Dhan account holders would get 500 rupees a month for the next three months to manage their homes, a move aimed at mitigating the difficulties caused by the blockade. >
