The way my neighbors have welcomed me is reassuring: Vadodara COVID-19 survivor
I HAVE ANXIETY ATTACKS AFTER TESTING THE COVID-19 POSITIVE I went to Spain in the last week of February and returned to Mumbai on March 8th. I arrived in Vadodara on March 11 and soon had a fever. So, I decided to get tested at the SSG Hospital. I tested positive for COVID-19 and on March 17, I was admitted to the isolation room there. My family (wife and two children) stays in Spain. I had anxiety attacks after testing positive. There was no way they could physically stand by me and I was terrified of what was going to happen.
‘WILL BE DEBTED TO THE MEDICAL TEAM FOR THEIR ATTENTION’
As an entrepreneur, I still travel abroad quite frequently. Most of us have the perception that state hospitals in India are not that good, but one good thing about this whole episode is that my opinion has completely changed after spending 14 days in the isolation room. The medical team that treated me was extremely competent and friendly, and also sensitive to my emotional needs. I also had some very young doctors, and I will always be indebted to the entire medical team at SSG Hospital for taking such good care of me in these difficult times.
I miss my family, the neighbors have been very helpful
I don't have WhatsApp installed on my phone, and I'm not very tech savvy. Therefore, I was unable to speak to my family during video calls, but hearing her voice on audio calls encourages me on a daily basis. Things could have been more difficult after coming home from the hospital since I live alone in the city. However, the way the neighbors welcomed me, with gluttony and thunderous applause, I felt great. And they have been very helpful. Mujhe roz koi na koi aa ke khana offer kar raha hai. All of these acts of kindness are truly reassuring. This love and support has really helped me even in very difficult times. While my body still feels a little weak, COVID-19 hasn't broken my spirit. Our collector from CM (Vijay Rupani) and Vadodara, Shalini Agrawal, spoke to me on the phone after I was released. All this experience has taught me that it always pays to be careful when it comes to your health. I immediately went to the hospital and that worked in my favor. We all need to be responsible citizens. We need to take care of our health and stay safe in our fight against COVID-19.
