Parliamentarians' benefits decreased by Rs 27,000/month until March 2021

NEW DELHI: Giving effect to the decision to cut by 30% in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis, two gazette notices issued by the Lok Sabha secretariats and on Tuesday cut the office and election spending allocations of the MPs for Rs 27,000 per month for the period from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021.

While the parliamentary constituency allowance has been reduced from Rs 70,000 to Rs 49,000 per month, the allocation of office expenses for stationery and postage has been reduced to Rs 14,000 from Rs 20,000 per month.

The Cabinet had approved to drastically cut deputies' pensions and allowances by 30% for one year. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar He had also said that the MPLADS fund had been discontinued until 2022.
