Biker takes off mask, spits on Manipuri woman in Mumbai

MUMBAI: An unidentified motorcyclist was booked to spit in Santacruz (E) on Monday when she and her friend were walking from the Geeta Vihar crossing to the Kalina military camp, where essential items were being distributed. Additional Police Commissioner (Western Region) Manoj Sharma said Vakola police are scanning CCTV footage of the route to zero on the biker.

The 25-year-old plaintiff said, “The biker took off his mask, spat on me, and ran away. We didn't see the registration number since we were in shock. I am concerned that their action may expose me to coronavirus infection.

After her friend posted about the incident on Facebook, the National Commission for Women in Delhi tweeted: “Another case of racial discrimination amid the # COVID19 outbreak, an unscrupulous outbreak in a girl from the northeast in the Kalina Market area in Mumbai. NCW is investigating this matter to take appropriate action. ”
