Covid-19 positive cases increase in Haryana, number hits 87

CHANDIGARH: An increase in the number of Covid-19 cases occurred on Monday after nine people tested positive for the virus and two in the Nuh district.

The positive cases on Sunday were 76 and today they have increased to 87, according to the bulletin of the state health department. Currently, there are 70 active cases in the state, 15 patients have been discharged, and the state has recorded two Covid-related deaths.

Reports of 458 samples were expected. According to the health department bulletin, of the total of 87 reported cases, six are and one is from Nepal, while 28 are from other states in India.

Interior Minister Anil Vij said that most of the more than 40 new positive cases reported in the past 3-4 days are from members of Tablighi Jamaat.

Vij previously said that up to 652 of the 1,300 Tablighi members had been tracked from the Nuh district alone. Authorities said most of the new cases were from Tablighi members and that it was cause for concern. More than 1,300 Tablighi Jamaat members, including 107 foreigners, arrived in Haryana before the closure took effect on March 25, Police Director-General Manoj Yadava said on Friday.

All of them had been quarantined, the DGP said, adding that five FIRs have been registered under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Aliens Against Aliens Act among members of Tablighi Jamaat for various violations. .
