O'Keefe retired from first-class cricket after being ignored for a new contract by New south Wales .
O'Keefe, 35, said he was not offered another contract with the Blues, but appreciated the many opportunities that NSW Cricket I'd given him such a long career.
I was disappointed when they told me I was not getting a contract, but I respect and accept the decision. So I decided to withdraw from first-class cricket, O'Keefe said in a statement.
It has been a privilege to play for my country and be the captain of my state, but above all, I am very proud to have played alongside some of the best guys I have ever met.
