Covid-19 trial, free treatment for Ayushman Bharat recipients in private laboratories, connected hospitals

NEW DELHI: Covid-19 testing and treatment will be free to Ayushman Bharat recipients in private laboratories and will be connected, he said Saturday.

Covid-19 testing and treatment is now available free of charge at public facilities. Now more than 50 crore citizens, eligible under the health insurance scheme, will be able to use free tests through private laboratories and treatment for Covid-19 in connected hospitals. he said in a statement.

Hospitals grouped under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) can use their licensed testing facilities or connect to a licensed testing facility, the NHA said.

The Covid-19 tests will be carried out according to the protocols of the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) and by private laboratories approved or registered by it, the authority said.

Treatment of Covid-19 by private hospitals will be covered by AB-PMJAY, he said.
