Coronavirus: about 9,000 Tablighi Jamaat members, primary quarantined contacts in the country, says MHA

NEW DELHI: So far, about 9,000 members and their main contacts have been quarantined across the country in light of the infection, a senior Interior Ministry official said Thursday.

Punya Salila Srivastava, joint secretary of the Union Interior Ministry, told reporters during a daily briefing that out of some 2,000 Jamaat members in Delhi, 1,804 have been transferred to quarantine centers and 334 symptomatic people have been admitted to hospitals. .


She said these numbers are the result of a massive effort by (MHA) in coordination with states to identify Tablighi workers or members in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
