Exclusive! Kanika Dhillon on the coronavirus pandemic: it's confusing, disturbing
Coronavirus The outbreak has forced people to stay home and maintain social distance. And the writer 'Judgementall Hai Kya' Kanika Dhillon you are making the best use of your time at home. While the emergency shutdown It has changed a lot of things, Kanika is using this time to finish the work on her previous scripts. In an exclusive interaction with ETimes, Kanika also revealed that she has taken over the kitchen and hopes to emerge as a successful cook once this health scare ends. Excerpts from the interview:
How has life changed after the pandemic?
Absolutely. It's confusing. It is disturbing. The notion that we are in control of things suddenly breaks, and also that we as a species can take things for granted, it is brought back to our faces. Big and small ideologies and belief systems about destiny, invincibility, and destiny need to be rethought. The world as we know it has changed around us in the blink of an eye and just to be able to meet people and live freely, it is a negotiation. Of course, it is much worse for the poor and we are still fortunate to have time to introspect these aspects, while most of India is struggling to survive, get to safer places, and fill their stomachs!
What precautions will you take at home?
We stand still. Staying home is the only way to help the community fight this! And that is what all responsible citizens are doing. Also, keeping a positive outlook is important. The best thing you can do right now is to help people without compromising your safety or the safety of those around you.
How has it affected your work?
Work has slowed down overall. These times are disturbing. Therefore, one has to work mentally to be in a productive creative space and not be bogged down by what is happening around them.
What type of script are you currently working on?
I am working on previous commitments that I need to finish. Hopefully, once things are fixed, you'll soon hear the announcements. Other than that, this time I hope you have some new stories too! The biggest challenge for me is to be in a positive frame of mind and kick-start creativity. When you see suffering around you, it is difficult not to be bothered by it.
How do you keep yourself busy during quarantine?
Writing and cooking are two key things. I believe and hope that by the end of this, he will be a decent cook. And my loved ones around me who have to challenge my kitchen for this time really please me as they eat with a smile on their faces when I can't eat what I've done at all! They keep telling me it's cute!
