CIL records record production of 84.3MT in March

Kolkata: Maharatna Coal India (CIL) recorded an all-time coal production of 84.3 million tons (MT) during March 2020, registering a growth of 6.5% compared to 79.19 MT reported in March 2019. By producing 3.85 MT in March, CIL has set a new record for highest production in one day from start. The company closed fiscal year 2019-20 with an annual coal production of 602.14 MT achieving 91% of the target.

After the company's production was severely hampered due to excess and prolonged monsoon during the first half of the fiscal year, we were able to reclaim much of the lost ground in the second half, a company official said, adding that CIL produced 120.3 MT in its entirety. more carbon in H2 than in H1.

Against the production of 240.93 MT during April-September 2019, CIL produced 361.21 MT in the next six months from October 2019 to March 2020.

CIL also added that the country's thermal power plants are close to coal reserves with 44.68 MT sufficient for 28 days. Many of the thermal plants have asked CIL to regulate their coal supplies, the official added.
