FIR order against two Covid-19 patients for deceptive tracing of contacts in Andamans

ANDAMAN AND NICOBAR: The Deputy Commissioner for the Southern Andaman District ordered to register FIR against two people who tested positive for COVID-19 by continually tracking down misleading contacts in following up on their contacts.

The two people with positive results have been identified as Farzand Ali and S. Rehman.

These people have been giving incorrect information about the places they visited during the home quarantine period, in addition to violating the terms and conditions of the home quarantine.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director of Health and Nodal Officer in Andaman and Nicobar, Abhijit Roy, reported on Tuesday that nine out of 10 people who tested positive on the Islands had attended a Tablighi Jamaat event at Jamaat headquarters in Nizamuddin, Delhi.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India increased to 1,397 on Tuesday after 146 new infections were reported in the past 24 hours across the country.

The death toll from COVID-19 increased to 35, while 123 cases were cured or discharged after treatment, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.
