CBI raided Amethi's house of former UPAT minister Gayatri Prajapati
AMETHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out raids on the residence and the former's office on Wednesday Samajwadi party Minister Gayatri.
Prajapati has been imprisoned since March 2017 on charges of raping a woman and is also accused of illegal mining in the state when he was Minister of Mining.
Prajapati's bail request has been rejected by the High Court twice.
The CBI team arrived at the former minister's house in the morning and began the searches. The team is also questioning members of their family on issues related to unaccounted wealth.
It should be recalled that in January 2017, a woman had alleged that Prajapati, then minister, had called her and her daughter to his residence on the pretext of granting a mining contract and that he and his men had raped them.
