Iconic shows Mahabharata and Ramayana to return to the small screen? Prasar Bharti CEO hints at new tweet

Now that the country is closed for 21 days, television channels are doing their best to keep their viewers entertained. In an attempt to do so, Prasar Bharti CEO Shashi Shekhar hinted that iconic 80s shows Mahabharata and Ramayana could return to the small screen in their latest tweet.

Recently, an Internet user tweeted: Great demand on social networks for the broadcast of Ramanand Sagar Ramayana and Mahabharata from B R Chopra in DD National. @PrakashJavdekar @DDNational #StayHome # 21daysLockdown.

To this Shashi Shekhar replied: Yes, we are working on the same with the rights holders. It will be updated shortly. Pay attention.

Before long, several Twitter users commented that they also wanted to run Chanakya again along with Mahabharata and Ramayana. It remains to be seen if their demands are also met, and soon.

Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana and B R Chopra’s Mahabharata made their way to the television screens during the late 1980s to mid-1990's. They were a treat to the audience and widely enjoyed by all on Sundays.

Recently the cast of Ramayana met at The Kapil Sharma Show to celebrate the 33rd anniversary of its broadcast. In the episode, several interesting revelations were made by Arun Govil (Ram), Dipika (Sita) and Sunil Lahri (Lakman) who kept the audience hooked.
