'In an attack that killed 17 jawans, 3 reds also died'
RAIPUR: The Maoists have acknowledged that three of their rebels were shot dead at the March 21 meeting in which 17 members of the security staff were martyred. Police believe that 22 Maoists were killed that day.
The rebels' southern sub-zonal bureau issued a statement on Wednesday, confirming that 1 PLGA Battalion was involved in the ambush and named the Maoists killed as Sakru, Rajesh and Sukku, natives of, and in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. They released photos of the looted arms and ammunition cache of the murdered troops, and the cremation of the three rebels in a jungle. Police had said that several Maoists were killed or wounded in the counterattack by forces.
