Kuldeep Yadav expects a good IPL to consolidate the place in the T20 World Cup team

NEW DELHI: I'm not a safe pitcher anymore, spinner Kuldeep Yadav seeks to consolidate its place in India T20 World Cup team with a sensational IPL.

Just a year ago, it was considered the best spinning bowling option in India in overseas conditions, but a fall in form led him to lose that status.

I don't think anything went wrong. It depends on the combination. In New Zealand the wickets were quite different, you may have seen that there were no spin tracks in the tests. In addition, it was not a long series of tests. Kuldeep told PTI on Thursday.

(Coach) Ravi bhai (Shastri) supports me a lot. It is open to everything. Whatever is Cricket I played to date, he backed me a lot. It was a team decision considering the conditions.

Kuldeep last played a Test in January 2018 against Australia in Sydney, while his last T20 match was against Sri Lanka in January this year.

It appeared in only one of the three ODIs in the New Zealand series that India lost 0-3.

Now he is looking at the IPL, as of March 29, to make a strong statement and return to the fold of India.

IPL is such a platform that changes every year. You must be active all the time and adapt to the changes. Right now I am fully prepared for IPL.

I also had a lot of time to plan. The IPL is very important (to make a comeback in the Indian team), he said on the sidelines of the fourth Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA) here.

The T20 World Cup will be held in Australia from October 18 to November 15.

Each player wants to play more because the more you play, the more improvements. IPL is a platform where you can play regularly over the course of a month and a half and, in turn, will result in performance.

Kuldeep said that difficult times are an integral part of each athlete's life, adding that a player needs support in such situations.

Cricket is not about a day. All players go through a bad time. Good and bad times come in everyone's life, but a player needs support on bad days, he said.

Kuldeep hoped to be able to form the team bound for Australia along with his spinning colleague Yuzvendra Chahal .

(Ravindra) Jadeja is doing very good performances, in batting, fielding and bowling. Then, the combination has become stronger with its arrival, he said.

We have a very strong team and we will definitely do our best. It is up to management if we play together or not. The combination is very important.

"We love bowling in tandem and there is no doubt about it. It will definitely be great for us if we get to play together in T20 World Cup ."

Kuldeep said he definitely misses Mahendra Singh Dhoni behind the stumps even though Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul are fine.

Mahi bhai (Dhoni) is such an experienced player that he has given the Indian team a lot. Every time an experienced player is not playing, one tends to be missing somewhere and misses him, said the 25-year-old.

That said, they (Pant and Rahul) are still young, but they have been doing very well. Both are well maintained, so it is not making much difference, but you miss the presence of Mahi Bhai.

Kuldeep also congratulated the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian team after it entered the final of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Australia.

It is wonderful news. They played very well the tri-series against England and Australia. They won all four group matches in the World Cup and that too by huge margins.

They definitely deserve to be in the final. My best wishes are with them. Hopefully we will return with the Cup, he finished.
