Death of the rape survivor's father: Kuldeep Sengar convicted of guilty manslaughter
NEW DELHI: BJP MLA expelled and six others, including two UP police, were convicted Wednesday of wrongful death that does not amount to murder in the death of the Unnao survivor's father.
According to special judge Dharmesh Sharma, the defendant demonstrated his political and muscular power to criminally intimidate the deceased and his family and deter them from continuing the sexual case against Sengar. While framing the charges in August last year, the court had seen the death as part of a larger conspiracy to deter, silence and prevent the father from continuing the complaint regarding his daughter's rape in 2017. The court will hear arguments on the amount of the punishment on March 12.
In addition to Sengar, the court sentenced Ashok Singh Bhadauria in charge of Makhi police station, sub-inspector K P Singh and Shashi Pratap Singh and Sengar's brother. It was found that the man was brutally assaulted, but charges of assault, criminal intimidation and possession of firearms against him were filed.
