Refugees, not migrants, are citizens: Mamata Banerjee

CALCUTE: Buniyadpur (Dakshin Dinajpur): Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee On Wednesday, he clarified his position on refugees by following his views as reported in sections of the media and categorically denied that he said that Bangladeshi immigrants were good-faith citizens of India.

“I never said that the people of Bangladesh are our citizens. There are citizens of Bangladesh as we are citizens of India. India, Pakistan and Bangladesh were a country before the Partition in 1947. Many people from Pakistan and now Bangladesh came to India after the Partition. I referred to them, ”Banerjee said at a public demonstration in Buniyadpur, Dakshin Dinajpur.

Benerjee had raised the problem while assuming BJP on the subject CAA-NPR-NRC. “Some people can come to your house and ask about your parents and their address. Don't answer them, the CM said, pointing out an answer in an RTI request asking for the PM Modi certificate. “Look at the answer.
