Goa: family of four dead found inside the house
PANAJI: In a shocking incident, four family members, including two children, were found dead inside an apartment in Corlim in Mapusa on Tuesday.
While one person was found hanging in the living room of the house, the police found the other three bodies lying in the bedroom. Police said the family, originally from Gadhinglaj in Maharashtra, moved to Goa four years ago in search of a better life.
Deputy Police Superintendent Edwin Colaco said the deceased have been identified as Shahu Dhumale (41), who worked as a security supervisor, his wife Kavita (35) and their children Paras (10) and Sairaj (3).
Colaco said they have not found any financial angle behind the deaths. On the floor, however, police found Shahu's diary in which he wrote a three-page note about his life. Mapusa police have registered a case of unnatural death.
The incident came to light around 10 a.m. Colaco said the family was scheduled to move out of the flat on Tuesday and Shahu had asked his brother-in-law for help. It was also assumed that the owner of the apartment had to pass to perform some repair work.
However, around 9 in the morning, when Shahu's brother-in-law reached the floor, he knocked on the door but got no answer. Then he left assuming they were sleeping.
The owner of the apartment also came and called, but got no response. A neighbor then showed the owner where the Dhumales used to hang the keys to the floor outside the door. The owner then used those keys to open the door only to find Shahu hanging in the living room.
