79 houses, 327 stores destroyed during the violence of Delhi: Manish Sisodia
NEW DELHI: The Deputy Chief Minister said on Tuesday that 79 houses and 327 stores were completely destroyed by a fire during community violence last week.
According to police, 41 bodies have been recovered so far, Sisodia said at a press conference.
In addition to the 79 fully burned houses, 168 suffered substantial damage and 40 minor ones due to arson, he said, citing figures available until Monday night.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Delhi government ministers are on the ground, said Sisodia. 18 teams headed by SDM are assessing the damage.
He said that so far Rs 25 lakh had been distributed as a former gratia.
Those whose documents have been burned should approach the SDM offices as soon as possible. Students who have lost their study material in arson will receive help, he added.
