Sending hate messages, rumor propaganda can take you to jail for 3 years: AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj
NEW DELHI: Sending hate messages or rumors can take you to jail for three years. The MLA (AAP) said Monday that the government will soon popularize that forwarding such material can take anyone to jail for up to three years under IPC 153A and 505C and IT law 66A.
Bharadwaj is the chairman of the Delhi assembly committee on Peace and Harmony, which held its first meeting on Monday.
At a press conference after the meeting, Bharadwaj said he will soon publish a number and an email address where people can forward messages they find online, which can incite violence among religious communities.
The committee will investigate the messages and send them to law enforcement authorities to present FIR, he said. The committee will also have a team of legal experts who will advise you if a criminal case can be resolved in such cases.
