Ajeetesh Sandhu finishes 37th at the New Zealand Open
QUEENSTOWN: Australia's Brad Kennedy he won again with an impressive eight under par 63 while the indian golfer Ajeetesh Sandhu finished tied-37 in the New Zealand Open here.
Sandhu finished with a pair of birdies en route to a three below 68 which gave him a total of six below and a T-37 finish, while his colleague Viraj Madappa (73) had his third round in four days for a total of three and a T-72 finish.
Korean teenager Joohyung Kim couldn't find his final touch on the last day and had to settle for fourth place after signing with a 70.
Herbert, who won the Dubai Desert Classic on the European Tour in January, apparently had control of winning his second title in two months.
However, an expensive double bogey in 13 caught him momentarily before he fought gallantly with three straight birdies from the 15th hole. Standing on tee 18, Herbert still had the opportunity to force at least one play-off with Kennedy, but hit his shot in the water, which effectively cost him the title.
Herbert's closing ghost meant that he would finish the week in second place, two shots ahead of his compatriot Nick Flanagan, who finished in third place.
Having started so promisingly and leading for three rounds, the 17-year-old Korean Joohyung marked his card with five birdies and four bogeys.
Pavit Tangkamolprasert of Thailand finished 11th after scoring 69 in the final.
