Mexico confirms the fourth case of coronavirus, all linked to Italy
MEXICO CITY: Mexico confirmed its fourth case of the new coronavirus, all related to recent trips to, after a young woman tested positive for infection.
Health officials said Saturday that the 20-year-old from northern Coahuila state carried the virus without showing symptoms.
She had recently traveled to Milan and now he was isolated in his house, according to the state government.
Eight other people are being evaluated for suspected infection, authorities said.
It is believed that the other three confirmed cases, two men in Mexico City and one man in the state of northern Sinaloa, visited northern Italy, authorities said Friday.
Italy has become one of the global critical points of COVID-19 with more than 1,100 cases in cities in the north of the country.
The virus has infected some 87,000 people and killed almost 3,000 since it first emerged in central China at the end of last year.
