CISF takes over the security of Srinagar airport
The (CISF) took over the security of Srinagar International Airport (SIA) on Wednesday. He will take charge in the first week of March and then at Leh airport. So far, these three airports have been jointly under J&K Police and CRPF. The move comes just a month and a half after J&K police DSP Davinder Singh, who was published in SIA as number two of the anti-kidnapping squad, was arrested along with three terrorists on January 11.
On January 13, the MHA had sanctioned some 800 CISF staff members to take over security tasks at the three J&K and newly created UT airports. The change took place under the DG M A Ganapathy specialty of the CISF airport sector. The SIA unit will be led by a senior commander. With the induction in Srinagar, the total number of airports under CISF security coverage has increased to 62.
