IPL preparations under way in Guwahati
JAIPUR: The decks may not have been cleared by the Rajasthan High Court, but preparations are underway and Guwahati is preparing for a IPL debut as a second home for Rajasthan Royals . The IMG and BCCI teams are in Guwahati to get the Barsapara Stadium and other logistics ready for the upcoming IPL season that will be underway from March 29.
It is likely that the IMG team is based in Guwahati since the first week of March.
Assam Cricket Association's (ACA) secretary Debojit Saikia said, IMG team led by its vice-president and marketing head Catherine Simpson that also included Amarpratap Singh from their security side. From the BCCI 's IPL group, Hemang Amin along with two or three other officials visited the stadium on Saturday.
Next hearing of the PIL challenging the decision of the BCCI to shift IPL matches of RR from Jaipur to Guwahati is scheduled on March 17.
Saikia added that they have not received any 'restraint orders' from the court. Case is going on, but there are no restraint orders. Logistics are being arranged and we are delighted that we will get to host the IPL games here in Guwahati, the ACA secretary added.
TOI tried to communicate with officials of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), but it was in vain.
According to official matches, the Royals will play five games in Jaipur, while the place of their two home games against Delhi Capitals on April 5 and Knight riders of Calcutta April 9 has not yet been finalized.
Given the development, it is almost certain that the Jaipur-based franchise will play two games in its second home.
