PM Modi will inaugurate the United Nations Convention on Migratory Species through videoconferencing
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the United Nations Convention (UN) on Migratory Species (CMS) through videoconferencing on Monday.
The CMS of the United Nations is organized in Gandhinagar , Gujarat begins today and will conclude on February 22.
The summit is likely to bring together 1200 delegates from more than 110 countries to discuss the alarming decline in migratory species.
Issues such as the impact of infrastructure development on animal migration patterns will be discussed at the 13th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS COP13).
India marks the beginning of a super year of Biodiversity with the celebration of the 13th Conference of the Parties (COP) of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS), an environmental treaty under the auspices of United Nations Environment Program .
The opening ceremony and the plenary session of the COP will be followed by parallel events and meetings of working groups until the closing ceremony. Numerous national and international organizations will show best conservation practices during the course of the conference.
Representatives of 130 Parties and eminent conservationists and international NGOs working in the field of wildlife conservation will attend.
